Connaught Ward

The Connaught Ward provides a spacious, light environment with 25 single en-suite rooms, inclusive of the new 8-bedded wing, which has its own dining room and kitchen. The Connaught Ward provides gender specific accommodation.

There is a communal dining room and newly created lounge, laundry facility and smoking room.

The suite of therapy rooms includes an Arts and Crafts Studio, Learning Zone providing access to computers and a group room. In addition there is a visitor's room for family and friends and a safe and secure enclosed garden area.

Emphasis is on providing a range of therapeutic activities, which will enhance social skills, promote independence and facilitate community integration through participation in occupational, educational and recreational opportunities.

Individualised needs-led therapeutic programmes are developed and delivered by our experienced multi-disciplinary team.

PATIENT PROFILE
The Connaught Ward accepts men & women over the age of 18 who:

  • Have a primary diagnosis of mental illness
  • Have a personality disorder
  • Would benefit from a period of rehabilitation and are willing to participate in the therapeutic programmes designed for them
  • May have a forensic history
  • Require a “step down” from a low or medium secure setting
  • Are medically stable
